Because I am a software developer I keep many backups of my work. I own similar external storage devices from Iomega, Maxtor and WD. This is not only the slowest of many such devices that I have owned over the years, it is so slow that it is almost useless for making frequent backups. If you don't mind starting a backup at night and letting it work while you sleep, then it's fine. Otherwise, forget it. It's a real dog.
