I have had my hard drive for about a month now and am really liking it. I don't use the programs on the drive, I have just been dragging and copying files over on my own, which was my intention the whole time. So i can't really comment on the built in software. I bought a case for it and have been gentle with it(as per some other reviews). The cord is very short, but as I travel a lot, it works well to not have a bulky cord to haul around.
