My low rating on this item is probably my own fault. It really was not what I wanted to get. The problem is that it is USB 2.0. I'd suggest getting something faster, like FireWire 400 or 800.
I was going to put this drive into my MacBook Pro, but it had the USB connector hard wired into the board, so I couldn't use it. Get more detail about Western Digital My Passport Essential 500 GB USB 2.0 Portable External Hard Drive WDME5000TN (Midnight Black).
