This is my first ever external hard drive purchase and it has gone great. This little thing stores everything I need it to and does not complain, but of course you better use the NTFS file system if it wasn't already defaulted on your drive, but it seems as though only the older drives were default formatted to FAT32.
It's size is nice and small, I would not recommend carrying a hard drive in your pocket but it fits great in a cargo-short pocket. Despite what anyone may tell you, 250GB is enough space for pretty much any person even though there are 1 terabyte sized drives out there. I like the glossy surface but I wish that manufacturers would start using a material/finish that does not smudge so easily (think iPods and their metal backs).
I give this WD Passport 5 stars because of it's ease of use, design, storage space, and rapid read/write speeds.
