The drive depends on a simple software to be recognized and that is the weakest link. This fact presents a dificulty because I cannot install such software at work. Even if I attain permision from the IT department, the software has to be installed on every single station and that is cumbersome to ask....
Apparently, the gadged has an interface circuitry in between the hard drive and the USB, mini B conector and I do not like that fact because, in case of extreme need, I cannot retrieve the 2.5 inch hard drive out of the color casing and install it directly into the motherboard to have access to the information... Or at least, is not easy to do.
Great portable concept with too many IF's... In resolution, I RMA the portable hard drive and I purchase a bigger USB memory stick to exchange information. To back-up information, I continue with my old style... Backing up into a more secure internal secondary hard drive or CD's.
