I bought this HD because my media collection was overwhelming my tiny 80gb and 40gb HDs in my desktop. So far this product has excelled - playback times do not seem to have suffered from having the media on this drive, even when I play it via my Xbox 360. The drive only requiring 1 USB to access and power is also a nice touch. I've not hooked it up to my netbook though, so I don't know how it will affect the battery life.
