One usb port on 15" powerbook g4 doesn't provide enough power to run drive. Western Digital was willing to provide a split usb cable that could draw power from both usb ports which would probably be enough to run the drive. But, of course, then it would be impossible to transfer data from one external usb drive to another or to use any other usb device at the same time as the drive.
